Emma Watson, like so many of us, thinks Belle’s human Prince is nice, sure. But his previous Beast form was a bit nicer. As she put it to Yahoo! UK, “There’s something a bit sad about when he transforms. You’re a bit like, ‘oh…okay, you were quite nice before.’ He’s H๏τ. The Beast is H๏τ.”
Dan Stevens, when asked what he thought about Watson’s preference at yesterday’s New York City Beauty and the Beast premiere, first laughed. Then, he told ELLE.com more earnestly, he gets it. “I know that it’s quite a common thing for the animated version, for people to be upset when the Beast turns back into a prince because people fall in love with the Beast, you know? So it’ll be interesting to see if people feel the same way about our Beast.” He paused: “And you know, I don’t blame them. He’s cute…”
